Juniper Serra Museum HSR

2727 Presidio Drive, San Diego, CA

The historic Junípero Serra Museum was designed by noted San Diego architect William Templeton Johnson in 1929. The building is owned by the City of San Diego and operated by the San Diego History Center (SDHC). It is located in Presidio Park and is one of San Diego’s most familiar landmarks.

Heritage prepared a Historic Structure Report (HSR) for the Museum. The purpose of the HSR was to identify historically significant features of the Museum, document the existing conditions, and outline recommended preservation and code improvements. The HSR also included assessments of structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems as well as recommendations for code, disabled access, and fire-safety upgrades in addition to a construction cost estimate for all proposed upgrades. A Historic Resource Technical Report was also completed for the site’s ADA improvement project.
